The number of households on social housing waiting lists in Cavan and Monaghan fell by 19 per cent last year.
New Department of Housing figures show 806 families were on local lists at the end of last year.
At the end of 2020, there were 584 households on social housing waiting lists in Cavan.
This dropped to 414 last year, marking a 29 per cent reduction.
It's also a 45 per cent drop in five years.
In Monaghan, the number of households waiting in 2021 was 5 per cent lower than 2020 at 392.
Since 2016, there has been a 24 per cent drop in waiting lists in the county.
25 of the country's 31 local authorities recorded a drop last year.
The greatest need remains in Dublin, with the county's four local authorities making up 43 percent of national demand.
