Parts of West Monaghan and Co Cavan are expected to be the first of the areas impacted by Met Éireann's weather warning. A status yellow snow and ice warning has been issued for counties Cavan and Monaghan from 5pm tomorrow until 5pm on Sunday. According to Co Monaghan forecaster Gerry Murphy, much of the region will be impacted by the weather warning through tomorrow evening, tomorrow night and parts of Sunday.
The Met Éireann forecaster says during the early stages of tomorrow parts of East and South Monaghan "shouldn't fair out too badly." Despite this, further to the west across West Monaghan, Co Cavan and parts of Leitrim through tomorrow evening and tomorrow night we will see falls of sleet and snow. Speaking to Northern Sound, the Magheracloone forecaster said that this will extend to the rest of the region later on tomorrow night and will continue into Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon before clearing away. However, once it clears, very cold air will follow behind it which will lead to a very sharp frost and ice on top of some lying snow as we go through Sunday night.
