Six members of the Special Needs Active Parents campaign group travelled to Dublin yesterday for a meeting in the Dail.

Special Needs Active Parents are actively campaigning for a special school in Monaghan, as well as a day respite centre and standalone respite centre.

The parents would like members of the public to come to their protest and sign a petition calling for a special needs school, dedicated respite and day care centres for County Monaghan.

A group from the Special Needs Active Parents (SNAP) group staged a peaceful but visible protest at the event to highlight the lack of respite care, day centre and special needs school in County Monaghan.

A meeting with the Minister for Disabilites and Minister for Special Needs Education and Monaghan parents will not go ahead.

Paddy McAloon is a member of Special Needs Active Parents or SNAP, a Monaghan based campaign group of parents who have children with special needs.

Along with his son, Kieran is taking part in a charity headshave tomorrow to raise funds for the training centre.
