The Sláintecare Healthy Communities Initiative for Cavan is being launched this Friday at Belturbet Railway Station.
19 local communities across Ireland have been selected for the initiative which focuses on access to a fully enhanced health and wellbeing programme.
Ann Marie Crosse who is the HSE Sláintecare Healthy Communities Coordinator told Northern Sound that the initiative provides for a core group of services to be established in Cavan.
She said those services will support local people’s wellbeing and provide better access to the range of services needed to improve and promote healthier lifestyle behaviours.
Mr Crosse added that people across the region are welcome to attend the launch where official proceedings will be carried out by local Minister, Heather Humphreys at 11am.
"The Slaintecare Healthy Communities Programme is one of 19 programmes that are running around the country.
"It came out of the Programme for Government and is part of the wider Slaintecare strategy that is focused on local communities, particularly areas of disadvantage where there is a high level of young families.
It aims to bring up the health status and bring up the health and well-being of local communities," she added.
