'Sky is the limit' for a Co Cavan husband and wife who were inspired by the Covid pandemic to start their very own business. After seeing a surge in people buying pets over lockdown, Jane and Alo Galligan from Ballinagh decided to sell their PAW-fect creations online and through word of mouth and have not looked back since.
From hand-crafted eating stations for cats and dogs, to unique bird-feeding houses with the colour of your choice - the local business is busier than ever before.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Jane Galligan said at the start of the pandemic people had a lot of time on their hands, which inspired the local couple to "give a little back" to people and offer some brightness in the middle of dark days.
She added that their products are "unique" and can be designed with a personal touch, which has encouraged local schools to also get involved. "Some schools have come onboard, as well as business such as hotels and coffee shops from across the region," explained Jane. "I made contact with the Minister for Education Norma Foley and she said the board of management in any school would be more than happy to have the bird houses. For myself, I approached schools because I think if you start children off at a young age to be kind and caring to one another, it will extend to bird creatures. I got feedback from schools who purchased them and they said the younger kids are just delighted to be out in the morning feeding the birds and they take it in turns which is great."
