Sinn Fein's Colm Carthy has been elected as the Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council for the coming year.
The AGM was held in The Garage Theatre this afternoon and was the first meeting of the council since the 2nd of March, prior to the outbreak of Covid 19.
He was nominated by party colleague Noel Keelan, with the proposal seconded by Brian McKenna.
Councillor Carthy will now take over as Cathaoirleach from Fianna Fail councillor Seamus Coyle who was elected to the position following the Local Elections in May 2019.
The position of Leas Cathaoirleach has gone to Richard Truell of Fine Gael, who takes over from Independent councillor Seamus Treanor.
Cavan have also held their AGM today, where Sarah O'Reilly of Aontu was elected as Cathaoirleach.
