Newly elected Sinn Fein Senator Conor Murphy has been questioned over comments he made about Paul Quinn who was brutally murdered in Co Monaghan back in 2007. Just weeks after Paul Quinn's death, the former Sinn Fein MLA claimed that he had been involved in criminal activity.
While Senator Murphy has since apologised for making those comments, and condemned the murder of Paul Quinn, the Quinn family believes such efforts are not good enough. When questioned outside Leinster House yesterday in relation to his comments about Paul Quinn, Senator Murphy said that he as “addressed the matter” and encouraged people to support the investigation into the murder of Paul Quinn.
Senator Murphy said; "I have said sorry publicly and I’m happy to repeat the apology that I gave a number of years back. I do look forward to the day when there is an interest in all of the victims North of the border not just in not just selectively in ones where people might think there is some sort of political advantage."
