A local councillor says Sinn Fein comments about LIS funding in Cavan and Monaghan are a 'political side swipe'.
Fine Gael's Sean Gilliland was reacting to criticism of Local Minister Heather Humphreys regarding the allocation for the region after Roscommon TD and Sinn Féin's spokesperson on Rural Affairs Claire Kerrane said old politics were at play.
He says there is ambiguity between what she had to say and local Sinn Fein councillors in Monaghan who all supported and welcomed the funding.
Councillor Gilliland says local councillors need to meet their colleagues and explain why increases are needed in the region.
He has described her comments as 'shameful':
