RTE is defending itself against Sinn Fein accusations of electoral interference.
It's after a joke linked the party to the TV series 'Traitors' on the Late Late Show.
During Friday night's Late Late Show Patrick Kielty showed pictures on the screen of Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald and former party TD Brian Stanley, linking them to the new Irish version of reality show 'Traitors.'
However, the joke hasn't gone down well with Sinn Fein which is calling on RTE to immediately apologise.
The party is accusing the state broadcaster of electoral interference weeks out from a General Election.
In a statement it says it's raised the matter with the RTE Director General, and Mary Lou McDonald has been the subject of death threats where the moniker 'traitor' has been used.
However, RTE says there is an audience expectation the show will open with a satirical take on events of the week, and under Patrick Kielty's tenure the show has become more satirical.
