Sinn Fein adopted a three candidate strategy across both Cavan and Monaghan after adding Cllr Cathy Bennett to the ticket less than a week ago.

It's after Tánaiste Micheál Martin again ruled out a future coalition with them.

Sinn Féin leader McDonald said she believes that Cllr Bennet fills the role left by Heather Humphreys of a formidable, feisty, no-nonsense Monaghan woman.

The added convention comes following Deputy Matt Carthy and Deputy Pauline Tully were officially selected in early September to run in the upcoming General Election.

Northern Sound understands that Cllr Cathy Bennett will be added to the ticket.
