Signs have now been erected along the N2 warning drivers of the potential of loose deer on the road.
This day last week, we brought you the advisory news that 16 farmed deer had broken out of their lands and were on the loose on the busy stretch of road. There were fears the deer would return to their holding by running in a group across the N2 causing disruption - or worse - to passing road-users.
Now, signs advising people using the N2 from McCaughey's Service Station at Broomfield for 3 kms to Castleblayney, to be aware of the local deer, have gone up. According to the Irish Deer Commission dawn and dusk is when deer are most active.
