Significant drop in number of electric vehicles bought locally

There was a significant drop in the number of electric vehicles bought in Cavan and Monaghan in 2024.

Nationally, new EV sales dropped by 25 per cent last year compared to 2023.

The figures are even higher for the Northern Sound region. Electric car sales in Monaghan were down by 33 per cent, while Cavan has the largest drop in the Northern Sound region with a decrease of 49 per cent on the year previous. In all, Irish consumers bought 17,459 electric vehicles in 2024.
