It’s believed an electrical short circuit was to blame for a fire that destroyed a vehicle seized as part of the investigation into the abduction and assault of Kevin Lunney.

The Special Criminal Court last week heard it was believed an “accidental burning” was to blame.

Several vehicles were destroyed in the fire, which occurred at a commercial yard in Carrickmacross which was used by Gardaí.

An investigation has concluded an electrical fault was to blame for the fire.

Four men are before the Special Criminal Court for their alleged involvement in the incident last September which saw QIH Executive Kevin Lunney abducted and left badly beaten by the roadside near Ballinagh.

Their trial is due to begin before the three judge court in January.
