'A TB outbreak on a farm is very traumatic experience for the farmer'.
This is according to Gerry O'Reilly from Shercock who hosted a farm walk on his land earlier this week.
Run in conjunction with ICMSA, the walk focused on bovine tuberculosis.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound after the event, Gerry described how successful it was.
He also pointed to the devastation TB brings, and to how imperative it is that farmers know how to react accordingly:
"A TB outbreak on a farm, you know, it can be very, very critical to the viability and the running of the farm and it can be a very traumatic event for a farmer, if he's losing a lot of livestock. It's a very difficult day for any farmer. But I think the message from the Department today was there's a lot of research after being done over the past number of years.."
