Each county across the Shannonside Northern Sound region is to receive over €175,000 for cultural and creative projects.
It’s part of a €6.6 million fund announced today by Ministers Catherine Martin and Darragh O’Brien for the 2022 Creative Communities initiative.
The aim of the scheme is to encourage participation in cultural and creative activity at individual and community level.
Every Local Authority benefit from a minimum of €175,000, while €500,000 will go to the Creativity in Older Age Fund and the Creative Communities Economic Action Fund.
Arts Minister Catherine Martin said the funding will help "promote an improved sense of wellbeing and social connections within communities".
Meanwhile, local TD Brendan Smith said the funding will "enable local authorities to sustain and develop vibrant creative communities and to support local artists".
