A Co Monaghan musician has said that Shane McGowan was the voice of the Irish diaspora.
Clones native, Paddy Goodwin was speaking to Northern Sound earlier where he said that Shane will be remembered for generations.
Paddy met Shane on a number of occasions in London and he recalled meeting Shane while he was wearing a Horslips T-shirt and Shane was a big Horslips fan and Paddy gave the shirt off his back to him.
Huge numbers lined the streets earlier in Dublin to say goodbye to The Pogues front man who died last week aged 65 and his funeral mass took place in his hometown of Nenagh. Paddy also recalled a time back in 2015 at the Flatlake festival in Clones where he got a picture taken with Shane on the back of a tractor and he added that he would love that have picture for him to keep as he can't recall who took the picture at the time.
The Clones native said that people tend to forget Shane was rather shy and sensitive but extremely intelligent and very articulate. Paddy says Shane will be remembered for many generations to come.
