Members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit recently arrested seven motorists for driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs in various parts of the county.
According to Gardaí, two of these cars were deemed defective and detained for a PSV examination. A number of drivers were also detected driving without insurance and as a result, their vehicles were taken off the road. These drivers now all face court appearances.
Elsewhere, a fixed payment notice was issued to a driver who had a young child sitting on an adult passenger and not wearing a seatbelt, this driver was also detected driving well in excess of the national speed limit.
Gardaí are appealing to all road users in this good spell of weather to drive carefully and adhere to the speed limits and general rules of the road.
