Minister for Housing, Darragh O'Brien has committed to service-site provision in Co Monaghan.
The Minister was speaking to Northern Sound this afternoon in Clones where contracts were signed in relation to the Ulster Canal restoration project.
Minister O'Brien said he was left "impressed" by the regeneration work that had been carried out in the town, especially with regard to vacant and derelict properties.
He added that Monaghan County Council was a "very progressive" local authority, particularly when it came to housing.
The Minister said an announcement regarding service-site provision would be made later this year.
"There is further work that we can do on service sites," he continued.
"And I expect to make a further announcement on that later this year.
"Certainly, my Fianna Fail colleagues here in Monaghan have been pushing very hard on that particular issue.
"I have listened to them and I think we can move forward with a very significant initiative later this year."
