Sepsis doesn't discriminate and can affect anyone at any time.
That's the message of Catriona Flanagan, a native of Cavan, who lost her mother to Sepsis. Catriona is hosting a support group this Thursday at the Virginia Showgrounds between 8 and 9pm. The aim of the group, which is in collaboration with the Irish Sepsis Foundation, is to provide a space for people who have been affected by the disease to share their stories.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Catriona says there were no support groups like this available to her when she lost her mother, and all are welcome to attend:
"It's basically to talk about their experiences, what happened to them because I feel talking about this is very, very important. There was nothing really there for us in our time of grieving. So, its happening this Thursday June 27th and anyone who wants to come along, they're more than welcome to bring a family member or friend for their support as well".
