Gardai and Motorsport Ireland are conducting two separate investigations into the deaths of two men during the Sligo Stages Rally.
The men who were participating in the event were killed instantly when their rally car hit a wall at Carrowcushcly in Ballymote at around 3pm yesterday.
The bodies of the driver in his 30s and passenger in his 40s were later removed to Sligo University Hospital where post-mortems will take place today.
Gardai are asking that footage of the collision is not shared across social media or messaging apps.
Sligo based journalist Sorcha Crowley says both men were well known in rallying circles.
