Tusla has said it first notified Gardaí about its “significant concern" in relation to Kyran Durnin back in August.
Gardaí are continuing to search a home in Dundalk this evening in relation to the disappearance of the eight year old boy.
In a statement released this evening, Tusla said that it has commenced an internal review to look at their engagements and interactions with Kyran and his family.
Although the child and family agency said Kyran had not been in its care, it said they had engaged with Kyran and his family.
They also say, in August this year, they alerted Gardaí in relation to a significant concern about Kyran.
Meanwhile Gardai are continuing to search a property, which was Kyran Durnin's home for a number of years this evening.
The property will be subject of technical and forensic examinations, while a mini excavator has been used to dig up the adjoining garden to the property.
Open ground close to the house will also be searched.
