The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains have announced that the search for the remains of Columba McVeigh on Bragan Bog in Co Monaghan will recommence today.
The search for the remains of 19-year-old Columba was paused over the winter due to inclement weather conditions.
Columba McVeigh was abducted, murdered and secretly buried by the IRA in 1975.
The current search which started in early October 2022 was suspended at the beginning of November when the ground conditions on the bog were becoming too dangerous for contractors and archaeologists to continue to work on it.
Any information that comes to the independent commission is treated in the strictest confidence and will never be used for any other purpose than to find the remains and return them to their family.
Anyone with information on any of the four outstanding Disappeared cases -Joe Lynskey, Columba McVeigh, Robert Nairac and Seamus Maguire are being asked to contact the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains.
Jon Hill has been appointed as the Lead Investigator following the retirement last week of Geoff Knupfer and will lead this search that begins later this morning in Monaghan.
