Stephen Murray, the Monaghan man chosen to represent the county at the annual Macra Mr Personality Festival, has won second place at the national competition.
The Scotstown man entertained judges and had the audience on their feet at the Talbot Hotel in Clonmel at the weekend with his stories and banjo playing. During the weekend of activities laid on, Stephen wore his county colours to compete in team-building challenges.
It wasn't to be, however, and out of 25 contestants from Macra branches all over the country, Stephen came in second place overall. The current Scotstown Macra was only formed last March and selected Stephen to represent Monaghan at the much-loved festival earlier this week.
