Locals in Scotshouse say they are happy by a decision by Eir that has saw them reconsidering a location for a mast in the village. According to local resident John Connolly, Eir have removed the mast that was located 12ft away from a child's bedroom. A new location on the edge of the village for the telecommunications mast has now been secured by Eir which locals assisted the company in finding. John says people power has won out against this proposed mast following up to 2 months of locals protesting in an effort to prevent the mast from going ahead.
Eir workers tried to erect the 40ft high telephone mast in the local village but the community felt the site was totally wrong for the mast but did agree that a mast was needed in the area. Speaking to Northern Sound, John says he is glad that the saga has ended; "People power is very effective and it was done for all the right reasons. We have no problem with Eir and we're delighted that an alterative site has been found in the village. It's been moved from the child's bedroom and that was our goal right from the start and we've achieved that goal."
