Locals have come together in Scotshouse to deliver a clear message to Eir in relation to the erecting of a mast in the village centre.
Yesterday morning Eir workers tried to erect a 40ft high telephone mast in the local village, 12ft away from a child's bedroom.
Locals protested and managed to prevent the mast going ahead and up on 40 locals arrived at the location again this morning from as early as 6am to prevent the works being carried out. Speaking to Northern Sound, the locals gathered said they are going to continue the protest and are determined that this mast will not be erected so near their homes.
They say they are here to stay and added that they are happy for the mast to be erected elsewhere but not in the proximity of a family home. John Connolly who is a local resident say no consultation process occurred and this has come out of the blue for locals.
