Minister Foley was visiting Cavan yesterday.

The Save our Schools committee says their concerns over proposed changes to schools in west Cavan are being ignored, despite comments from the Education Minister.

Minister Norma Foley yesterday said all views on the proposed merger of St Bricin's and St Mogue's Colleges would be listened to.

CMETB proposed in 2019 that the schools in Bawnboy and Belturbet would close and be merged into a new school in Ballyconnell.

However, the plans were met with widespread opposition despite the ETB saying the move would be good for students.

Minister Foley said she is listening to all involved in the process and if a new proposal was put forward by the ETB then it would be examined.

However, speaking on The Wider View today, Joe O'Reilly from the Save our Schools campaign said they have been in constant contact with the Department and have gotten no response.
