Sarah O'Reilly has been selected by Aontú to contest the General Election in the Cavan-Monaghan constituency.
The current councillor for the Bailieborough-Cootehill district topped the poll for the area in the most recent local elections. She believes her experience on the council has given her the grounding she needs to run for a seat in Dáil Éireann. Speaking to Northern Sound news, Cllr O'Reilly says she was delighted the party had the confidence in her to run.
She says that the people of the region want change in Government.
"While I was canvassing, topping the poll gives me confidence that the people recognise my qualities and my abilities and that they put their faith in me. I've a good reputation for taking on issues that people feel they're really not being listened to on. While I was on the doors many people did say to me, Sarah we'd be hoping that if you get in this time, and get in well, that'd you go for the Dáíl".
