Cavan County Council, Sarah O’Reilly, has been selected by Aontú to contest the Agricultural Panel in the upcoming Seanad election.

She says Aontú came across the piece of legislation on the Dáil website under the Department of Environment.

Of course the event, in the Hotel Kilmore, is being held in Cavan County Councillor Sarah O'Reilly's home constituency who was recently nominated to run as Aontú's candidate in the general election.

Figures released to Aontú by the Minister for Justice show that 11,467 people were arrested for drug offences throughout the district which covers Cavan, Monaghan and Louth.

The Bailieborough representative said that she'd been contacted by constituents and stopped on the street by people who were concerned about the wording of the new law.

Cllr O'Reilly says it's "illogical" to afford an individual sector such a large portion of the electricity market in Ireland.

Sarah O'Reilly says Minister Ryan is "not in touch" with what is happening on the ground.

Cllr O’Reilly highlighted the importance of the study for the future development of the Co Cavan town.
