The number of new cars registered across Cavan and Monaghan in the first half of this year increased compared with last year.
The latest report from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry also show that Electric car sales have jumped dramatically across both counties with sale of EV's in Monaghan almost doubling over the past 12 months.
New figures published by SIMI show registrations of new cars across the Northern Sound region increased on the same time last year.
Cavan had the most amount of new cars registered in the region up to the end of July with 1116, up from 933 on 2022. 139 of those are electric which represents a 113% increase on the same period last year.
792 new cars were sold in Monaghan in the first half of this year, a 13% increase on 2022's figure of 696. However, new electric car sales increased in the county by almost 95%, from 40 to 78. Nationally, over 104-thousand new cars were sold in the first half of this year, up from 87-thousand last year.
