Safety mitigation measures are being devised for Emyvale following a recent incident where a lorry crashed into a house in the village.
In a statement to Northern Sound, a spokesperson from the Department of Transport confirmed that Monaghan County Council will prepare proposals for the measures.
The statement adds that the Local Authority and TII agree that an "engineering intervention to slow traffic would be beneficial".
Monaghan County Council is now required to carry out an analysis of the collision history at the location, design a scheme to deal with the safety issues identified, and prepare a feasibility report.
Meanwhile, local Minister Heather Humphreys has welcomed the plans and says she will "continue to liaise with Monaghan Council in relation to this issue".
Minister Humphreys added that "we need to take whatever measures are necessary to ensure these type of incidents do not happen again".
