Russian officials say the Ukrainian port of Kherson is now under their "complete control".
Although the Ukrainian government says it's still defending the city, its mayor says local forces have left.
The UN refugee agency says one-million people have fled Ukraine since the fighting began.
It says the exodus amounts to 2 percent of the population, and is unprecedented this century for its speed.
A 40-mile-long convoy of Russian armoured vehicles is now about 16 miles from the centre of the capital, Kyiv.
It's thought to have progressed about two miles in the last 24 hours, with the US saying it has almost "stalled".
Several loud explosions were reported in Kyiv in the early hours of this morning, although the target of those blasts remains unclear.
Russia says 498 of its troops have been killed in the conflict, and almost 16-hundred injured.
But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims that number is closer to 9,000.
He says Russian troops will continue to find strong opposition.
"Wherever they go they will be destroyed," he added.
"They will not have calm here."
