Chair of the Oireachtas Media Committee and local TD Deputy Niamh Smyth says a 450-thousand euro exit package paid to a former RTE Chief Financial Officer should be repaid.
It was revealed yesterday that former CFO, Breda O’Keeffe, was paid 450-thousand euro when she left her job at the state broadcaster in 2020.
There's also a tax liability as her role was not made redundant, something RTE says it will pick up the tab for. Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smyth says Breda O’Keeffe should give the money back.
The Cavan Monaghan TD says former members of the executive walked away with secret exit packages and she believes the former RTE Chief Financial Officer has a moral obligation to give back the money to the taxpayer.
