Meanwhile, a Cavan man says there are those in the protests taking place over RTE's secret payments to Ryan Tubridy using the opportunity to attack capitalism. John Wilson, who met Tubridy when he was a guest on the Late Late Show in 2014, says he is a great broadcaster and time will prove that.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Mr Wilson said there is no evidence to suggest that the broadcaster did anything wrong, and the treatment of him by the public and some mainstream media outlets is tantamount to hate.
He highlighted the many people in this country who are now "struggling" financially and while their anger over exorbitant salary in RTE is justified, that anger should be directed at the Government and not at Ryan Tubridy.
Mr Wilson added that there are those currently engaging in protests who are using the opportunity to attack capitalism and that must be acknowledged. "Ryan Tubridy is not an employee of RTE, he is an independent contractor.
"He was entitled to negotiate the most beneficial contract with RTE that was possible. RTE agreed to the terms that were put forward by his agent and the contract was signed off on and that is business and that's life. But in relation to the protests there are individuals who are using this as an opportunity to attack capitalism," he said.
