More than 1,000 people visited the Co Monaghan park a day in 2023.

According to committee members at Sean Mc Dermott's GFC, this week's opening was the culmination of a number of years of hard work along with the help of many government departments.

Spike is one of the Drumlin Giants, which is a series of sculptures scattered across the Monaghan town forest park.

As a result of the damage, the older forest park gates will lock from 10pm to 8am daily until the barrier is replaced.

There was opposition to the decision not to change the speed limit approaching Rossmore, which is currently 80km/h.

It was claimed that a mast was needed because the areas around the land had been identified as coverage blackspots.

€50,000 will go towards an upgraded toilet block at Rossmore Park.

The Council and Coillte signed an agreement to carry out upgrades.
