Justice Minister Helen McEntee has welcomed the rollout of the first phase of the system. The move was recommended in the Commission on the Future of Policing in Ireland report and was signed into law last December. An Garda Síochána says it is undertaking three phased introductions involving the use of a range of body cameras by frontline Gardaí in specific locations in Dublin, Limerick and Waterford. Meanwhile, the Taoiseach has said he's "sick" of Gardaí being the only people at protests without a camera. Taoiseach Simon Harris says body cams will help to protect Gardaí, as well as the public.
