A Status Yellow warning remains in place until 10am following heavier than expected snow in the early hours of this morning.

Over €23.4 million for National Roads and Greenways across Cavan and Monaghan was announced today.

A substantial funding announcement was made today that will benefit regional and local roads across Cavan-Monaghan.

Nationally, the Government is responsible for subsidising 92 million kilometres of road repairs and upgrades.

Cllr Aine Smith brought the issue to the attention of the council that routes to schools across the county were in need of being salted.

In Cavan and Monaghan in the last year alone, 13 people tragically lost their lives

The highest number of road deaths in 10 years was recorded in 2023.

Motorists are asked to be extra vigilant this morning.
