Cavan and Monaghan Councils are on standby due to an Orange rain and thunderstorm alert which is in place for 16 counties this morning.
Leinster, along with Cavan, Monaghan, Tipperary and Waterford are currently experiencing heavy rainfall and flooding. Locally, the Dublin road in Cavan is flooded and currently not passable from the roundabout at the Cavan crystal to Killygarry
Other roads flooded include the R212 at Cullies; the R188 Cootehill road the L1532 at Drumgola, from Drumalee cross to St Pat's.
Meanwhile, Junior Minister for the Office of Public Works Patrick O'Donovan is urging people to listen to safety advice.
