Essential road safety improvement works at St. Mary's National School in Virginia has begun today.
These works are funded under the governments Safe Routes to School Scheme.
The scope of works is to construct new footpaths, pedestrian crossings, road surfacing and new road markings on the R178.
Cavan County Council say this will offer a safe and accessible facility both to staff and students attending St. Mary’s National School and the wider community.
It is anticipated that the works will be completed in late September/ early October subject to resources and weather conditions.
