SOSAD Ireland has recently announced a substantial expansion in its counselling services over the first half of 2024, showcasing a notable increase in both the number of hours of support provided and the clients assisted. This impressive growth underscores the escalating demand for mental health services and highlights the significant impact of SOSAD Ireland's efforts in addressing this critical need. SOSAD has a number of branches across both Cavan and Monaghan.
Christine Wynne is a member of the senior staff team and Coordinator of the SOSAD Cavan services. Speaking to Northern Sound, Christine revealed that from January 1st to June 30th, 2024, SOSAD Ireland delivered a remarkable 11,794 hours of free, one-to-one counselling. According to Christine, this achievement represents a 23% increase compared to the 9,620 hours provided during the same period in 2023 and a striking 48% rise from the 7,974 hours offered in the first half of 2022. Speaking to Northern Sound, Christine believes that the growth is a "testament" to the effectiveness and expansion of services, driven by a committed team of volunteers and staff dedicated to supporting those in need. Christine has also encouraged locals from across the Northern Sound region to "reach out" and avail of the services that are there for them.
