There has been an increase in the number of learners undertaking further education and training courses in the Northern Sound region. This academic year, almost 8,785 students are enrolled on to FET courses run by the Cavan-Monaghan Education and Training Board.
The new figures released in the most recent CMETB meeting, means the local board will achieve targets set out by SOLAS. A new workshop for the Renewable Energy Traineeship was delivered at Monaghan Institute in time for the 2024 academic year.
The two new workshops for electrical engineering in a purpose-developed centre in Milltown, Monaghan Town is nearing completion with training scheduled to start in quarter one of 2025. CMETB has also been awarded Green capital funding from SOLAS to upgrade FET centres regarding energy efficiency. .
