A Independent review into the North South Interconnector that was carried out needed to be questioned according to a local senator.
Senator Robbie Gallagher raised the issue in the Seanad yesterday and asked for Minister Eamon Ryan to come before the Seanad to highlight the local opposition across the region.
This Review accepts the findings of previous reports including the 2018 Expert Commission that indicated that the North South Interconnector should proceed as planned as an overhead line.
Eirgrid say the North South Interconnector is critical for the security of electricity supply across the island of Ireland; to support social and economic growth in the Northeast region.
There has been a lot of opposition locally to the findings of the report and Senator Gallagher says he fully supports the campaign to get the interconnector underground.
The local Senator says the review itself as been a waste of money.
