A review of the frequency of speed checks on the N2 between Monaghan and Emyvale is being considered.
The issues has been raised at a number Monaghan County Council meetings, and more recently at a Monaghan JPC meeting, with members claiming there was no evidence to prove it is an accident blackspot.
Acting Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken said that it is a matter for the NRA and RSA, however, they are there for a reason and he wasn't going to be 'flippant' when it comes to speeding.
However, Superintendent Pat O'Connell acknowledged they were there regularly and he would request through Garda headquarters for a review to be conducted on the frequency of checks on that stretch of road.
