Positive thinking is the most important aspect to any induvial nearing retiring age.
That's according to Gerry Hopkins from Virginia who retired 21 years ago due to health complications. The 72 year old says every morning you get up, you have something to look forward to, the garden and the great outdoors play a vital role in occupying your days.
A survey published last week showed that a third of people nearing retirement aged are worried about what they will do while being retired and how the lack of routine would be a real worry for them. The Cavan native told the Joe Finnegan show earlier that the men's shed in Virginia plays a vital role in his day to day life and there is an event being held in Virginia next Wednesday night to highlight the local group. Gerry says he doesn't know where he had the time to work while he was in full time employment.
