Bus Eireann has confirmed that its restaurant and toilet facilities will reopen at Cavan station on the 1st of June.
The facilities have been closed since March 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic first emerged and subsequent restrictions were put in place.
Deputy Brendan Smith told Northern Sound today that he received the confirmation from Bus Eireann this morning.
He paid tribute to Cavan co councillors, whom he added, never let the matter go off the agenda.
He also acknowledged how "unacceptable" the situation at the bus station is, particularly in "this day and age".
"Covid changed things dramatically for all of us around the world in March 2020 when there was the initial shutdown and lockdown," said Deputy Smith..
"At the time, bus services were reduced dramatically for private operators and for Bus Eireaann.
"There were less people travelling but in fairness they did provide some service for the people that needed it."
