A "milestone" has been reached following the publishing of the preferred route for the N2 upgrade between Ardee and the Monaghan border at Aughnacloy.
That's according to Roisin Moore, who is the Projects Liaison Officer with Monaghan County Council.
From Clontibret to the border, the road diverts from the existing route at Castleshane and bypasses Monaghan town and Emyvale.
However, while the preferred route from Ardee to Carrickmacross follows the route of the existing N2, the existing road would be significantly changed as a result of the project.
The N2 Ardee to Castleblayney Concerned Resident's Group recently claimed that an "overwhelming majority" wants to see an upgrading of the existing road and not a new one.
Roisin Moore explained the potential changes to Shannonside Northern Sound and said it's important people consider how these changes to the existing N2 may affect them:
