Repair works are underway following a mechanical fault at the Cavan Town Water Treatment Plant.
Irish Water says it is working with Cavan County Council to restore water as quickly as possible to impacted customers.
An Irish Water spokesperson says customers may experience temporary, intermittent low pressure or water outages in Cavan Town.
Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and repairs are underway and are expected to be completed tonight.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
