More substantial rent increases have been recorded by the Residential Tenancies Board in the second quarter of the year. The latest Rent Index report shows the standardised average rent in new tenancies grew by 11.6 per cent year-on-year between April and June of this year.
The average rent for a new tenant in Ireland is now €1,574 with an existing renter paying €1,332. In Cavan rent in new tenancies grew 9.3 per cent with the average rent at €996 whilst in Monaghan it grew 2.9 per cent with the average rent €891. Meanwhile Monaghan saw the smallest fall by 19.3 per cent.
