A remembrance ceremony will take place in Belturbet today in honour of the late Sergeant Patrick Morrissey.
A short parade will start off from Belturbet Garda Station to Morrissey Park at 3pm.
A wreath will be laid on behalf of Cavan's Garda Siochana Retired Members Association (GSRMA) who organised the event, and will be followed by a short ecumenical service.
The Drumalee native was killed on June 27th 1985 as he made attempts to apprehend two men behind a heist at Ardee Labour Exchange.
As a result, Sgt Morrissey was awarded the Scott Gold Medal for bravery in 1986 and the Freedom of Drogheda in 2013.
