The people of South Monaghan will be "relieved" that a new chapter has potentially begun with the sale of the popular Nuremore Hotel according to Cavan-Monaghan TD Matt Carthy. The Nuremore Hotel, which ceased trading in 2023, was a business synonymous with hospitality in the North East region.
CBRE confirmed to Northern Sound earlier today the sale of the Nuremore Hotel in Carrickmacross for an undisclosed price with the new owners hoping to create 100 new jobs. Welcoming the news, Sinn Fein TD Matt Carthy says we need the Nuremore to return to a fully functional commercial hotel as quickly as possible. According to Deputy Carthy, it has been left idle for "far too long" and has been a huge loss to the town of Carrickmacross. He added that the local hotel should have never been closed as a result of a misuse of the immigrant investor programme and the lack of oversight from Government;
