Last minute cancellations and buses failing to stop for waiting passengers made up the bulk of complaints on local bus routes last year.
One passenger was forced to flag down a different bus to ask where the one they were waiting for was.
The complaints relate to a number of bus routes that pass through both Monaghan and Cavan, including the 466 Athlone to Cavan and the 32 Dublin to Letterkenny. Details of the complaints were released to this station under the Freedom of Information Act. One person complained about the last minute cancellation of a 23:20 expressway bus from Dublin to Cavan twenty minutes before the departure time. They said that it left many people stranded at Dublin Airport with no possibility of a bus home until 7am. A second complaint made reference to the 466 Athlone to Cavan route. This person was waiting for the 20:23 bus on the Dublin Road in Longford. They said that the bus didn't show up on the TFI live app, and the complainant ended up flagging down the Cavan to Athlone bus to ask where the Athlone to Cavan bus was. The bus driver responded by saying that their bus had passed through Longford ages ago, and invited the complainant to jump on their bus to Longford Train Station so they could catch a local link bus to Granard. In a separate complaint, the person alleged that they were waiting at the same stop for the same bus, when the 466 failed to stop for them, flashing their lights and pointing at them.
A further complaint on the 466 route stated that they were waiting on the 17:30 bus in Glasson, only to find out that the bus had been cancelled at 17:30 due to having no driver available.
In terms of other busses, many complaints against the Dublin to Letterkenny referred to a lack of seats and the journey time.
